In my essays I analyze how life may be if people do not have to struggle. I suggest that people have to struggle in some form or other in order to become successful. I believe that without any form of struggle in life that people create negative situations that do not lead to success.
The event I would like to call attention to involves a rich family and their daughter. The father of the family was adamant that the way his daughter would know happiness was through earning a lot of money as a self-employed person as he did. The money the family had was quite enough so that his daughter and any of her future family could live in luxury for a long time. However, the father wanted to instill the idea that life as a business owner leads to wealth and happiness beyond what merely having money could.
The daughter was eager to learn this lesson and looked forwards to making a lot of money as her father did. She started a small car hire firm in which a luxury car picked people up with a chauffeur, which then drove the family around for the rest of the hire period. It was like hiring a car except that it is a luxury car that comes with its own driver. The daughter wanted the firm to be seen more as a car hire firm rather than a fancy taxi firm.
The father invested $200,000 into the business startup, and gave her an extra $30,000 to market her services. She purchased used luxury cars, had them fixed, opened a fancy office and began her business.
The first and second years saw no profit, so the father subsidized her business with $50,000 every year. He was of the opinion that she would eventually find a way to make more money and the business would be a success. The business ended seven years after it began after her father passed away and left her several million dollars. He kept her company afloat with an excess of $50,000 every year until his death.
As time went on, the daughter began spending money as if she were earning the amounts her father earned. She has several new suits every year, most of which were in excess of $800 each, and she lived a very fancy lifestyle, which she claimed she used to court clients.
She never once turned a full profit, even though there were years where she could have if she had not spent the excess money on office refurbishment and puff pieces about her success in the local media.
The daughter never made a success of her business because she never had to struggle. Even when she could have turned a profit, she spent the money on things the business did not need. She never once had to struggle or had the risk of her business failing. Due to the fact she never struggled, she never became successful and is now living off the money her father left her. She also gains another substantial sum when her mother passes too. She has never had to struggle and so will never be a success.
